A Poem

I’ve accrued other letters,
Earned other titles, and yet:
Whatever I am, I’m a mistress.
A commander of hearts,
A magister, a maestro, a master
Of various arts; a ruler, a leader;
A supervisor of souls and a doer
Of notorious acts; kept and keeping,
A woman of scandalous parts.
Ms, Miss, Mrs: whatever else I am,
Whatever names I’m called or claim,
It’s this I must reckon with: I’m ever always
Ms, Miss, Mrs: a mistress.
